executive director of the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of South Dakota Building
Chapter. Lounsbery became interested in construction law at Harbor Group (Interstates
Companies), her first job after completing her law degree. She said she enjoys the
relationship building and negotiations that go along with contracts. She helped create
AGC resources, including online contracts called “Consensus Docs”which help lawyers
and clients identify and understand contract risks and risk management in construction.
“The overall goal of the South Dakota AGC is to help our members be successful, and we
have 28 general contractor members and 148 associate members,” Lounsbery said. “I want
to make sure that member issues and successes are in front of the public and legislature.”
Lounsbery will explore new opportunities for AGC, including developing a “virtual
organization” that identifies ways to leverage technology so members can still participate
in programs and reduce travel costs. She previously served as executive director of the
Southeast Technical Institute Foundation, and she is married to
Dr. Mark Lounsbery
